Dr. Beck has been a Kansan all of his life. He grew up in a small town, Colby, and has practiced in Newton all of his professional career. He attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence for his undergraduate degree, and then received his doctorate of medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine at Kansas City. After a year’s internship in internal medicine at St. Luke’s hospital he did his residency in Ophthalmology at The University of Kansas. He is board certified in Ophthalmology.
He is married and has three children. His passions other than the delivery of quality eye care include gardening and woodworking.
Terria is a native Kansas born in Norton, Kansas and raised in Colby. She attended the University of Kansas for her undergraduate degree and then the University of Kansas for Medical School where she graduated in the upper 10% of her class and was initiated into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society. Her residency in Ophthalmology was completed at Herman Eye Center, University of Texas Health Science Center –Houston, TX She is affiliated with Grene Vision and specializes in small incision cataract surgery using topical anesthesia and the placement of all types of implants including those for correcting astigmatism and presbyopia.
Dr. Simmonds was raised in Winston-Salem North Carolina where she graduated summa cum laude from high school. She then attended Duke University where she majored in Biology, with studies in literature and antiquities. She received a scholarship for academics and also to the Duke-in-Rome Summer Program. She was awarded a scholarship for Clinical Excellence for a graduate student that provided outstanding patient care. She then went to optometry school receiving her Doctorate from Southern California College in Fullerton, California. She belongs to the American Optometric Association and the Kansas Optometric Association. She enjoys volunteering and has participated in several mission trips through VOSH, Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity. When not in the office she enjoys being a mon to her two sons, Max and Oliver. She will begin her practice at Axtell Eye Center on July 20, 2018.
